Recovery Board Mounting Tool

After putting together my setup for mounting some Tred recovery boards to my spare tire, I wanted to have a tool-free way of removing the nuts securing the boards. I designed these tool/handles to use with the 3/4" nuts holding the boards in place.

The 3/4" hex hole runs through the length of the tool, so it's deep enough for the bolt to pass through if needed. The narrow end has a recess so that if you want to use some glue to secure it to the nut and flush mount you can. If not, you could also just store the tool in your glovebox or something.

The download includes one .STL file:

  • tredHandle.stl

I printed mine at 90% infill. Very likely overkill, but I wanted them to be beefy and to be able to torque them down pretty tight. I also printed them with the narrow end on the bed of the printer. You'll need a small amount of supports for the recess at the bottom, but the rest can be printed without support.
